Winter sales of Spanish textiles are expected to touch € 3.6 billion in 2014, which would be an increase of 1 to 4 percent from the winter sales of the previous year, owing to the discounts offered by manufacturers, according to the Business Association of Textile Trade and Accessories (ACOTEX) of Spain.

Mr. Borja Oria, president of ACOTEX, said textile sales in Spain are expected to be better this year during the winters, as the trend in sales have improved, especially during Christmas, reports modaes.es.

Winter sales of textiles now account for 20 percent of the annual turnover of Spanish textile sector, and textile sales are expected to touch € 3.6 billion during this year winter, representing an average spending of € 80 by per buyer, he added.

Mr. Oria said consumer behavior has changed substantially in recent years due to the economic crisis, which has led to price factor becoming the most important in making a decision for purchased.

Rebates and discounts are used by traders to raise cash to meet payments, which is especially important in times when there is no funding, and with discounts of 30 to 50 percent on products small enterprises can expect to gain huge amounts of sales, he added.

According to the ACOTEX president, attractive prices will remain the main driver in sales during the winter season, and the most popular items would be warm clothes, menswear, womenswear, textile products like bed sheets, blankets and more.
