Spanish textile industry production rises 0.8% in Nov'13

The production of textile industry in Spain registered an increase of 0.8 percent year-on-year, for the month of November, 2013, as per the latest Industrial Production Index (IPI) data released by the National Statistics Institute (INE).
 
According to the INE data, the rise in the textile sector IPI for the month of November is a decline compared to the increase of 2.4 percent year-on-year registered in October, 2013.
 
Meanwhile, the IPI in the manufacturing of garments sector registered a surge of 15.7 percent in November, 2013, compared to the same period last year.
 
The IPI of the overall Spanish industry registered a surge of 0.2 percent in November 2013, as compared with the same month of the previous year. The IPI registered in November is eight tenths below the IPI registered in October 2013.  
 
The IPI measures the monthly progress and productivity of industries, including extractive industries and the manufacturing sector. This indicator reflects only the quantity and quality of production, eliminating the influence of prices. This methodology is fully harmonized with the European Union countries.
