As one of the most important global economic hub, India has invariably witnessed a significant increase in energy consumption, triggering a rise in CO2 output. The Freudenberg Group, an innovative and values-based technology company, is instrumental in reducing potentially harmful emissions.

The Company, having held business ties to India for more than 90 years, today has a broadly-diversified range of products and solutions which underscore the Group’s commitment to environmental protection and responsible corporate citizenship in India.

“Holistic, compatible solutions are a primary concern of the Freudenberg Group and firmly anchored in our Business Principles,” says Dr. Jörg Matthias Grossmann, Regional Representative of the Freudenberg Group in India and Chief Financial Officer of Freudenberg Chemical Specialities. “This includes the manufacture of environmentally beneficial products, eco-compatible production, as well as the responsible acquisition and usage of raw materials.”

Freudenberg’s solutions for better air quality
Eagle Burgmann India, a Freudenberg Group company, owns a wind turbine of 350KW capacity, which generates approximately 400,000 units of power per year. Recently, further investment has been made in a second wind turbine of 5KW with a solar power generation facility at the plant in Pune, which produces about 50 units of power per day.

The power generated is for instance used for lighting areas of the plant. Company vehicles are also a concern. As the high traffic volume impairs air quality, pollution checks are regularly carried out on all the company-owned vehicles, as well as on employee vehicles. Employees are encouraged to use bicycles and the carpool wherever possible.

Today’s economic and environmental mega-trends call for massive improvements in the efficient use of existing energy sources. For more than 50 years, Freudenberg has supplied innovative filter systems: solutions that make processes more economical, conserve resources, protect people and the environment against fine particles and help improve air quality.

At production plants, filters also make a key contribution not only to health and safety but also to process optimization and product quality. For example, Freudenberg offers the Viledon eee.Sy, which stands for “energy-efficiency-enhancement system”.

This turnkey system enhances energy efficiency and utilizes the waste heat of gas turbines, engines and compressors in hot and humid climates. Due to its eco-friendly design, installing Viledon eee.Sy gives companies the opportunity to claim “carbon credits”, thereby protecting the environment.
