Three “Only in New York” events – the New York Market’s popular “Night on Broadway,” free Market Week museum admission and an industry awards event – are among highlights of the summer edition of NY NOW, the Market for Home + Lifestyle (formerly NYIGF), August 16-20, 2014, at New York City’s Jacob K. Javits Convention Center and Passenger Ship Terminal’s Pier 94.

“New York City’s entertainment and attractions are unparalleled, and NY NOW provides market participants with unique after-hours events and experiences,” said Christian Falkenberg, NY NOW director and GLM senior vice president.

“This summer’s “Only in New York’ activities include specially-priced tickets to some of Broadway’s best entertainment and free admission to one of New York City’s top cultural institutions, along with an opportunity to celebrate the industry’s top retailing and individual achievers.”

Market participants also qualify for free admission, and a shopping discount, at MAD (Museum of Arts and Design), during the summer 2014 market. From Friday, August 15, through Wednesday, August 20, MAD is offering complimentary admission and discount on full priced items at The Store at MAD, upon presentation of a summer 2014 market badge.

Exhibitions on view during Market Week include: NYC Makers Open, which showcases the work of approximately 100 makers—highly inventive artisans, artists and designers who create objects or environments through exquisite workmanship and skill.

NY NOW also will sponsor the 63rd annual Retailer Excellence Awards, recognizing excellence in retailing and individual achievement, on Sunday, August 17, at the Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers. During this festive industry gathering, Gifts and Decorative Accessories will announce winners of six awards: Store Design/Redesign; Visual Merchandising; Marketing Achievement; Store Events; Rising Star; and Outstanding Manufacturer’s Rep; and Gift For Life, the gift and home industry’s only charitable organization, will present its 2014 Industry Achievement Award to HomArt.

The summer 2014 edition of NY NOW, the Market for Home + Lifestyle, will run Saturday, August 16, through Wednesday, August 20, 2014, at New York City’s Jacob K. Javits Convention Center and Passenger Ship Terminal’s Pier 94. NY NOW’s four comprehensive collections – HOME, LIFESTYLE, HANDMADE and NEW! – will encompass 100,000 products in 400+ product categories. Some 35,000 attendees from all 50 states and more than 80 countries worldwide are expected.
