According to the February 2014 Home Textiles Foreign Trade report of ICEX, Spain exported home textile products worth €79.44 million during the month of February, whereas the imports of home textiles by the country amounted to €92.89 million during the same month.
Imports of home textiles by Spain during the month of February recorded a jump of 18.6 percent compared to the same month last year.
According to the ICEX data, France was the main destination for home textile exports from Spain, which totaled €12.98 million, followed by Morocco with €11.99 million, Portugal with €7.8 million, Italy with €6.7 million and the UK with €6.1 million.
The highest exports of home textiles were made from the Spanish autonomous community of Catalonia during the month of February with exports totaling €34.27 million, followed by Valencia with €17.74 million, Galicia with €12.01 million, Madrid with €6.9 million and Cantabria with €1.8 million.
In January 2014, Spanish exports of home textiles fetched €79.97 million, registering a surge of 16.7 percent, compared to the same month last year, as per the ICEX data.
During 2013, Spain exported home textiles worth €916 million registering a surge of 8.6 percent compared to 2012, according to the Center of Information of Textile and Apparel (CITYC) data.
