The closing remarks have just been spoken on stage at the Copenhagen Opera House marking the end of the 2014 Copenhagen Fashion Summit. The Summit, which assembled more than 1,100 people from 34 countries, kicked off in the morning with the official welcome speech by the patron of the Summit, Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Mary of Denmark, who called the summit “the most important event on sustainable fashion”.

Among these were Livia Firth from Eco-Age Ltd., Alan Roberts from the Bangladesh Accord on Fire and Building Safety, Vanessa Friedman, fashion editor of the Financial Times and Helena Helmersson, Head of Sustainability of H.

Industry leaders were gathered with the mission of discussing solutions that can come to terms with the fact that the fashion industry is one of the world’s most polluting industries.

One of the important arguments that has been discussed and developed into different formats has been the one about “innovative and responsible materials for fashion”, where C.L.A.S.S. has played an important role.

The debate on innovative materials and how to integrate “responsibility “ in the creative and technological processes of fashion collection moderated by Vanessa Friedman ( fashion Editor Financial Times ) and with the participation of Chantal Malingrey-Perrin ( marketing director, Premiere vision ) , Marco Lucietti ( global marketing director ISKO) , Catarina Midby ( head of sustainable fashion H&M) and Giusy Bettoni ( CEO of C.L.A.S.S. )

The Design Challenge : a runaway show where key nordic fashion designers have chosen and interpreted textiles selected from the ecolibrary of C.L.A.S.S. : Barbara I Gongini, David Andersen , Designer Remix , FilippaK , Gudrun & Gudrun , Ivana Helsinki , JOR by Gudmundur Jorundsson , Leila Hafzi , Marimekko and Nina Skarra.
