Themed as La splendeur des Empires, which translates to ‘Splendours of Empires’ in English, the event primarily aimed at highlighting kaftan—the country’s most preferred outfit that stands as the symbol of tradition and modern sensibilities.

The event featured an array of metal, stone and jewellery encrusted kaftans inspired from some of the greatest empires of the world such as Roman, Babylonian, Macedonian, Russian, Chinese, Ottoman, Persian, British and Egyptian.

Staying true to the authentic conventional designs of kaftans, fashion designer Khadija el-Houjouji chose to showcase pieces that reflected the culture and heritage of the North African country. The ensembles were adorned with new cuts and handwork by local artisans.

Young designer Kacem Sahl presented a Persian civilization-inspired, lightweight fabric crafted, Swarovski adorned kaftan collection where as the Paris-trained fashion show debutante Nabil Dahani opted to modernize the outfit by mixing both French and eastern style elements.

Part of the proceeds from the show benefitted SOS Villages, an organization that helps abandoned children and single mothers. The organization provides educational facilities to more than 700 children through its five sites spread across the country.
