Ethiopian Embassy in Stockholm, Sweden, in collaboration with Chamber Trade Sweden and the Swedish-Ethiopian Chamber of Commerce (SECC), organized a seminar last week to promote investment and business opportunities in Ethiopia.

The seminar was attended by Ethiopian textile and leather companies, the Ethiopian Women Exporters Association and a number of companies from Sweden, according to a statement from Ethiopian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

At the seminar, experts from the Ethiopian textile and garment industry presented details about business and investment opportunities for Swedish firms in Ethiopia.

Tadesse Haile, State Minister of Industry, who led the Ethiopian business delegation to Sweden, gave elaborated presentation about the current state of Ethiopia’s economy and the investment opportunities.

He said Ethiopian Government provides incentives to investors, and the country has become a preferred destination for investment due to favourable investment environment, low crime rate, zero tolerance of corruption, stable exchange rate, and welcoming attitude of the people to Foreign Direct Investment (FDI).

In her welcoming speech, Ambassador Woinshet Tadesse mentioned the mega infrastructure projects that are coming up in various sectors, such as roads, railways, telecommunication and energy, which are crucial for investment and sustained economic growth.
