He adds, “The seeds will not get spoilt even if rains are delayed by as much as a month. The cotton crop can be spoilt only if there is a wide gap between the first and second or third spell of rains after the seeds start flowering”.
The Cotton Association of India (CAI) in its June estimates, upwardly revised the country’s cotton production for the ongoing season 2013-14 to 38.82 million bales of 170 kg each, from its May estimate of 38.35 million bales.
