Benzene prices went up in Asia yesterday (July 10), due to strong downstream demand in the region and higher upstream energy prices. Buying activities too increased in the region.

In Korea, Japan and India, prices went up by US$ 5/ton yesterday as compared to Wednesday’s prices and were assessed at US$ 1385/ton, US$ 1390/ton and US$ 1395/ton respectively.

However, in Europe and US, prices showed a downward trend yesterday as compared to Wednesday’s prices.

In Europe, prices went down yesterday due to sluggish downstream demand in the region coupled with a decline in downstream product prices. Prices were assessed at US$ 1470/ton on July 10, lower by US$ 15/ton as compared to US$ 1485/ton on July 9.

In US, prices were assessed at 508-510 cents/gallon yesterday slightly lower as compared to Wednesday.
