Nov '14
Leading textile companies from Taiwan will be exhibiting a wide range of quality design and high performance textile & garment products at the Taiwan Textiles Fairs in South Asia 2014, in the Sri Lankan capital of Colombo on November 24-25, 2014.

Organised by the Taiwan Textile Federation (TTF) and the Bureau of Foreign Trade, the highly successful Taiwan Textile Fairs bring together leading suppliers of textiles and related products from Taiwan, one of the world’s largest textile exporting countries to Sri Lanka

Renowned garment companies would showcase their cutting edge, high performance, trendy and contemporary products to the South Asian buyers at this one of a kind platform. This niche event is important to both the developing markets as textiles and apparel industry is one of the largest contributors of their exports.

The annual event caters to textile and garment manufacturers, importers, exporters, buyers, merchandisers and retailers from Sri Lanka for their sourcing requirements. The fair will showcase a wide variety of products ranging from textured yarns, recycled polyester yarns and fabrics, woven fabrics, knitted fabrics, functional fabrics, outdoor and sports fabrics, label, badge, ribbon, etc.

The event will provide an excellent opportunity for Sri Lankan apparel manufacturers, exporters, big retailers, and importers to interact with manufacturers from Taiwan to source superior fabrics and textile auxiliaries that will add more value to their product-range. The fairs will also introduce Sri Lankan manufacturers to new product categories to develop for the growing demand in the domestic as well as export market.

The event is supported by the leading textile associations of Sri Lanka, such as Joint Apparel Association Forum (JAAF), Sri Lanka Apparel Exporters Association (SLAEA), and Sri Lanka Apparel Sourcing Association (SLASA).

The Taiwan textile industry is the acknowledged world leader in research, development and manufacturing of fabric and garment accessories.

The Sri Lanka apparel industry is set for strong growth on the back of continued positive growth in the economy, recording 7.8 percent growth year-on-year in the second quarter. The apparel industry which contributes 15.9 percent to the economy is on track to achieve the export target of US$ 5 billion by 2016 buoyed by rising export demand. (GK)
