Jan '15
Cleaner and greener processing solutions from both machinery and chemicals and dyestuffs in a synchronous fashion will be discussed at a day-long conference on 'Innovations for Sustainable Textile Production ... Connecting the Dots' in Mumbai on 20 February.

The theme highlights the need to improve production practices for sustainable working and growth of the textile industry, according to the Society of Dyers and Colourists-Education Charity (SDC-EC, India), the organisers of the event.

An approach, synchronising the developments in processing machinery, chemicals and dyestuffs, and effluent treatment methods, is desired in today’s scenario, says SDC-EC.

The international conference aims to address the problems faced by the textile industry, with regards to effective use of fast depleting natural resources and curtail its adverse environmental impacts. It will provide an insight to the possible solutions to the textile processing industry for cleaner and greener chemicals and dyestuffs, sustainable processing techniques, better processing machinery and effective effluent treatment methods.

Speakers of global repute will be sharing their knowledge in the conference, which will start with a Panel Discussion on the conference theme. Representatives of various brands, chemical companies, garment manufacturing firms, machinery manufacturers, laboratories and textile processors will be participating in the event.

The event includes sessions on various topics like sustainable fibres for 21st century, resource management, innovations in machinery, innovations in processes, effluent management, and denim for tomorrow.

Up to 500 delegates are expected to attend the conference, which will see participation of complete textile supply and value chain and international brands, along with presentations from well-known international speakers on contemporary technical topics.

The event would also provide vast networking opportunities for the delegates.

Based in Bradford, UK, the Society of Dyers and Colourists is the world’s leading independent Educational Charity dedicated to advancing the science and technology of colour in a changing world. Over the last decade, SDC-EC has successfully organised conferences and seminars which have been well received by the industry for their technical content. These international conferences create a common platform for information dissemination and global networking, while bringing together national as well as global talent for the common good of the textile supply chain.
