During the month, China imported 216,000 tons of cotton yarn, showing an increase of 38.4 per cent year-on-year and 11.4 per cent month-on-month.
On the other hand, China's cotton imports fell sharply by 62.3 per cent year-on-year to 106,000 tons in July 2015. On a month-on-month basis, this decline was 34.7 per cent.
One reason for dip in China's cotton imports is the government issuing a smaller quota this year, and a decrease in price difference between overseas and domestic markets, according to analysts.
The recent devaluation of yuan is not likely to reverse the trend in China's cotton and cotton yarn imports, feel analysts. (RKS)
