With Pakistan's textile industry contributing almost 65 percent to the export basket and employing about 35 percent of the total workforce, industry insiders feel this as the right time to set up a Textile Policy which will provide necessary impetus for growth and promotion of this economically important industry.
Thus, wheels are now set to roll for preparing country's first Textile Policy paper with the Ministry of Textiles holding a seminar 'Infrastructure and Human Resources.'
To be held in Karachi on Saturday, the seminar will draw close interaction between Government officials, policy makers and industry representatives.
Presentations by experts drawn from human resources, technical industry captains from Ministry, Garment Cities of Faisalabad, Karachi and Lahore will highlight the seminar.
For Pakistan, USA, EU, Canada and Japan are the major textiles export markets and among the products, cotton textiles claim majority share.
Other major products to watch for, from exports point of view are knitwear, bedwear, raw cotton, cotton cloth, towels and other madeups.
