Government of Iran has sanctioned a grant of 150 billion Rials to the carpet weaving industry of Azerbaijan, a province in Iran.
It is hoped that after establishing a Carpet office in the Ministry of Commerce and the implementation of social insurance bylaws, weavers will be guaranteed a secured life.
In this year alone, 15 carpet weaving work studios have been constructed in East Azerbaijan in Tabriz and Trade Organization on its part is giving its full support for establishing and activating such other units.
Although the sum granted this year is much less compared to the 220 billion Rials provided last year, experts believe that the situation is likely to improve if Government takes the right measures.
Of the 200 thousand people in the province working in the carpet industry, more than half belong to Tabriz. In fact, Tabriz exports include 70 percent of carpets accounting for 35 percent of the total carpet exports of Iran.
