In order to develop the textile and clothing industry, since 2003, Jiangsu Province has adopted the integration strategy by unifying all the sectors like ginning, spinning, weaving and processing and so far, the results have been satisfactory.
Firstly, the export of the textile and clothing products increased by 21.7 percent each year, making it the third highest foreign currency earner for China. In 2007, the whole province's textile and clothing export value reached US $25 billion.
Secondly, adding over 1000 textile and garment enterprises on average every year, in 2007 the region appended over 8000 related companies. Among these over 50 percent were the privately owned.
Further, with the rising exports the province had been able to raise the prices of its products. The unit price of knitted clothes increased by 30 percent compared to the year before the implementation of integrated system.
Finally, the local textile and clothing export was gradually focused in European and American regions, and now, these two markets account for consumption of around 40 percent of the manufactured goods.
