Petroleum Minister Murli Deora inaugurates Oil & Gas Fortnight

Shri Dinsha Patel, Minister of State for Petroleum & Natural Gas, addressing the gathering of oil industry and school children, called for an attitudinal change in the mindset of public and appealed to the school children to imbibe upon the habit of fuel conservation.

Shri M.S.Srinivasan, Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, delivering the Chairman's address, reiterated that India is growing fast and so is her energy demand.

Children therefore, from their early stage of life, should practice conservation of Petrol & Diesel. Shri Srinivasan applauded PCRA for its leading role in promoting fuel efficiency in the country.

“Extended road network and effective public transport are two key factors that would considerably reduce fuel consumption of transport sector in the country”, said Shri A.Sundareshan, Addl. Secretary, MOP&NG, while delivering his address.

Shri Ravi Capoor, Joint Secretary and Executive Director, PCRA welcomed the gathering and said that the city of Delhi alone wastes Rs. 994 crores per year due to idling of vehicles at traffic red lights as per a study carried out by CRRI and PCRA.

For the country, the figure may well be imagined. This wastage may be saved simply by switching off vehicle engine beyond 15 seconds at traffic red lights.
