Currently Garments are re-exported from Turkey to several countries and to encourage Pakistani exporters to offer competitive export prices of Garments directly will boost export to a great extent.

The suggestion is to amalgamate the three lists of countries into one list for all the three sub sectors viz. Garments, Home Textiles and Fabric export.

Certain countries due to their own strategy are not importing garments but these countries may come up potential markets for garments in a not too distant future.

Garments exports is already confronted with various challenges – abolition of China textiles exports safeguards, increase in cotton price, labor cost, energy etc, and accession of other developing countries to WTO fold.

The uncertain trade environment and stiff competition among suppliers of the South East Asian region also demand continuation of R&D subsidy for survival of the value added products and thus, the Chairman PRGMEA appealed that the existing R&D facility be extended till July 2010; the statement said.
