Import prices for nylon 6 filament ascend

In the month of December, China imported 11,621 tons of nylon 6 filament, up 4.16 percent from the previous month, but down 9.87 percent from the same period last year, according to the latest statistics received from the Customs Department.

Average import price stood at US $2,981 per ton, up $71 from November, showing a growth of 2.45 percent, which was around 3.04 percent higher than the same period last year.

During 2007, China's total imports of nylon 6 filament touched 143,469 tons, worth $418.22 million, down 18.41 and 13.56 percent from the same period of last year. Import price marked $2,913 per ton, a rise of 5.88 percent compared to previous year.

Talking about exports, in the month of December, the figures for nylon 6 filament touched 5,265 tons, the highest volume in the whole year, gaining 537 tons over the previous month, up 44.86 percent from the same time last year. Average price quoted for this month was $3,439 per ton, up 1.21 percent compared to November, with 2.07 percent rise over the same period last year.

Country's total exports of nylon 6 filament during whole 2007, reached 52,728 tons, demonstrating a boost of 9.30 percent over 2006. Total exports amounted to around $178.77 million, representing a growth of 14.77 percent against same period last year, with average export price touching $3,397 per ton, an increase of 5.20 percent on year.
