DDI aspires for expansion

Denim de L'ile (DDI) Limited, has plans for expanding its business. The company wants to buy the building of Summit Textiles Ltd (STL), which had shut down five years ago.

Although the deal is yet not finalized, is expected to be, by end of this month. DDI plans to utilize the Summit building as its new plant and start its operations by July this year. The company will invest a total amount of Rs150 million in this project.

The company is presently producing 4,00,000 pieces of jeans and 1.2 million meters of denim fabric per month, which is expected to reach 5,00,000 by 2009 if it gets STL building.

In an acquisition spree, DDI had taken over, Overseas Garments Ltd in 2007, which now operates under the name Ocean Denim Ltd (ODL). It helped DDI increase the business and now they are eying at STL, to take it to greater heights .

According to the officials of DDI, the company wants to attract more foreign buyers and increase their export earnings in coming years.
