The annual per capita fibre consumption of America is more than 20 kilograms. The country imports nearly 80 percent of the required textile and clothing products. China being the largest exporter of these goods is also one of the largest suppliers to the US markets.
Tatted garments including shirts, leisure clothes, western-outfits, jeans, trousers, women and children apparels are the most demanded textile products exported to the US.
The material used in most of these textile products is pure cotton which can be both rough and thick or fine fabric. The latter, however, is more popular in the western countries.
In the past few years, demand for mixed fabric made by using 40 percent viscose, 40 percent acrylic and 20 percent hemp fibre, has increased substantially. On the other hand, market for T/C (terylene and cotton) fabric has declined forcing Chinese exporters to concentrate on newer varieties.
