The Union Textile Ministry headed by Shankar Sinh Vaghela has approved to restart the spinning mill at Achalpur in Maharashtra which was closed since 2001.
Ms Wasudha Deshmukh, former Minister and Chairperson of Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority confirmed that the announcement regarding this was made by Mr Vaghela in the Lok Sabha.
A proposed investment of Rs250 to Rs300 crore has been made and tenders for advanced technology machineries have also been floated. Moreover, Ms Wasudha also stated that apart from a complete renovation of the mill, an entirely new building for production will also be constructed as a part of the project.
Two places have been short listed for setting up this mill. While one of these is the premise of old Vidarbha mill, the other is the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC).
With the commencement of the mill, the problem of unemployment will be efficiently dealt with. Experts believe that the mill will generate employment for about 1000 people.
