Jute, the golden fibre, has a huge demand in international market due to its eco-friendly nature. The economy of Bangladesh thrives on this industry. However, its present scenario is not very pleasant, due to negligence from the Government.

Now the Authorities have realized if proper methodology are adopted, a good number of factories can be saved from closure, which in turn would help the jute industry to gain its lost glory.

Thus, the Government has stepped forward to take actions and put control on situations from getting worst.

A daylong seminar was conducted for field officers and farmers by Rangpur Regional Centre of Bangladesh Jute Research Institute (BJRI) at Kishoreganj Upazila Parishad auditorium in Nilphamari district recently.

Speakers here, expressed the need of engaging latest technology for the production and preservation of high quality seeds of jute and kenaf.

More than 50 farmers, workers of Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) and other government organizations participated in the training.

Mohammad Aiyub Khan, Chief Scientific Officer of Rangpur BJRI, chaired the course while M Shamsul Azam, Kishoreganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer was the guest of honour. The sessions were taken by experts from BJRI and DAE.

Experts believe that this step would definitely help to meet the requirement of manufacturing units and give a stiff competition to other rival countries.
