Norway & Pakistan set to increase two way trade

Mr. Muhammad Ijaz Abbasi, President ICCI said that European Union should relax visa policy for businessmen, reducing time for the grant of visas, because it will encourage Pakistani businessmen to visit Norway and other European countries to explore trade opportunities and to develop business ties with foreign companies.

He added that U.K. has announced new visas scheme, which will enable businessmen to get visas within 24 hour on production of required documents. He said that EU should also launch such schemes to facilitate businessmen.

Mian Akram farid, former President ICCI said that establishment of democratic government in Pakistan, would help create more investment opportunities in the country that would build the confidence of the foreign companies to invest in Pakistan.

He said that Pakistan Ambassador in Norway is actively involved in accelerating the two-way trade between Pakistan and Norway.

H.E.Ms.Aud Marit Wiig, Ambassador of Norway said that it is encouraging that Pakistani companies are importing plants and machinery from the Norwegian companies, which will help building strong trade and economic links between the two counties.

She said that import of such plants shall boost the economic activities between the two countries and would encourage other companies of install Norwegian plants for quality production.

She said that Telenor has substantial investment in Pakistan in telecom sector and more companies are interested to invest in Pakistan because they consider Pakistan a good destination for investment in many areas.

Ambassador emphasized on the need to build image of Pakistan abroad, so as to attract foreign investment and generate economic activities between the two countries.

H.E.Ms.Aud Marit Wiig, Ambassador said that Norway seeks transformation of government in Pakistan in a positive sense, which will help strengthen the trade and economic relations between the two countries.

She also accepted the invitation of the President of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry for visiting ICCI to address the business community. Mr.Asad Farid, Director Sales Hotel Crown Plaza was also present in the meeting.
