Altuglas International, a Business Unit of Arkema, has developed a new range of Altuglas resins that offer enhanced resistance to chemical attack.
There are three grades available, depending on the final properties required: Altuglas CR 8, Altuglas CR 12 and Altuglas HCR 3.
Altuglas CR 8 and Altuglas CR 12 offer good resistance to chemicals and good impact resistance (Altuglas CR 12 has the higher shock and chemical resistance properties of the two grades).
Altuglas HCR 3 offers very high chemical resistance, good thermal properties and excellent surface hardness (Rockell).
These new grades retain the basic properties of transparency and durability that have built the reputation of all Altuglas acrylic grades.
They can be formed by extrusion or injection and are recommended for such applications as bathroom fittings (meeting the EN 13559 standard), automotive body parts (very high resistance to cleaning agents) and the cosmetics packaging market (very high resistance to perfume liquors).
