April 30, 2008 (Turkey)

Istanbul Museum of Modern Art is flooded with people who love to trace history through designs, as ‘Design Cities’ exhibition is going on at the centre. The exhibition is held in association with Design Museum London and will continue to thrill the visitors till August 10.

The fair has a wide range of products on display right from textiles, fashion, different patterns of prints to furniture and drawings that reflect the changes designs have undergone from mid 19th century to present day.

There are more than 109 exquisite craft pieces by 64 designers including William Morris, Owen Jones, Christopher Dresser, Adolf Loos, Le Corbusier, Eileen Gray, Achille Castiglioni, Ettore Sottsass, Gio Ponti, Otto Wagner and Josef Hoffman that are showcased here.

The exhibition presents a selection of works from various museums such as London Design Museum, Vitra Design Museum, London Victoria & Albert Museum, Thonet Museum and Centre Pompidou.

Design Cities, narrates a beautiful story of contemporary designs by mainly focusing on seven cities, namely London, Vienna, Dessau, Paris, Los Angeles, Milan and Tokyo.

Spectators are overwhelmed to see how effortlessly the artifacts describe various modifications art has gone through over the period of time.
