Hong Kong Polytechnic University had successfully developed the memory fabric at the end of last year.
The textile and clothing department of the University invested nearly HK $7 million to develop the unique technology of 'shape memory fibre', which can enable the fabric to have a memory function. This technology is a worldwide initiative.
This shape memory fibre can be blended with other materials like cotton and hemp. Clothes made from these mixed materials return to the original state after use. This technology will be applied in underwear, sportswear and other such industries.
Products with this technology are expected to appear in markets sometime in 2008.
