Yarn exports to Hong Kong depicts a robust growth

Statistics reveal that in the first four months of this year, China exported about 190,200 tons of yarns to Hong Kong, representing a drop of 1.66 percent than the same period of 2007. However, the export value touched US $827.08 million, up by 12.41 percent as the average price stood at $4.35 per kilogram, up by 14.3 percent.

Cotton yarn amounted to 130,000 tons, surging by 2.24 percent and accounting for 68.38 percent of the total yarn exports made to Hong Kong. On the other hand, chemical yarn exports which amounted to 50,200 tons, plunged by 10.96 percent.

Prices of nearly all the category of yarns went up, especially animal hair and wool which soared by 28.28 percent. Guangdong, Jiangsu, Shandong and Zhejiang Province were some of the main suppliers of raw material to Hong Kong with exports increasing by 2.31, 8.74, 21.88, and 48.38 percent respectively. Exports from Beijing in particular saw a remarkable increase by 108.51 percent.
