Renowned photographer Clyde Butcher joined Sustainable Florida – Collins Center in Tallahassee at the 10th Annual Sustainable Florida Best Practice Awards to honor more than 70 business, non-profit, education and individual leaders committed to preserving the environment and creating a healthy economy for Florida.

Sustainable Florida – Collins Center presented awards in several categories including Leadership, Small Business, Large Business, Government, Non-Profit, Business Partnership, a Green Building Award and the Legacy Award. Award winners received a resolution from the Governor and Cabinet.

Valley Forge Fabrics in Pompano Beach – Valley Forge is the world's largest producer of decorative fabrics for the hospitality and gaming industry. The familyowned business has been doing this for 30 years and recently took a FRESH Look at its model. FRESH – Fabrics Redefining Environmental Standards (for) Hospitality – is a line of fabrics made from recycled PET plastic bottles (think water bottles).

This saves natural resources – especially since most non-recycled polyester is the fabric of choice for the hospitality environment and is made from petroleum. This is the only textile company to date that has an established reclamation process to facilitate the recycling of textiles.

The fabric feels like cotton and is reprocessed into new fabric when it is worn out and replaced by the user. In addition to producing a green product, Valley Forge operates in a sustainable manner by greening its fleet and internal recycling program.
