High prices of dyeing & printing weakens fabric sale

Starting from June 10, the sales scenario of Chinese fabric has depicted a recession because of low demand for the traditional fabric in domestic and international market.

Besides, the approach of 2008 Beijing Olympic Game has also made a huge contribution to the declining trend. Numerous dye manufacturing enterprises in Hebei and Shangdong Province and Tianjing City have been ordered to restrict their production which has tremendously hiked the prices of various dyes, especially dark colors, and in turn raised the cost of dyeing & printing industry.

For instance, in Zhejiang Province, the price for dyeing and printing of T/R imitation wool cloth increased by about 3 yuan per meter. Additionally, since the fabric becomes more expensive the manufacturing units are also forced to raise the prices of their finished goods.

Recently, the jeans cloth prices in Guangzhou City increased by 0.40 to 1.00 yuan per meter. Such increase in cost is bound to make the fabric inaccessible to the common masses and this explains the reason for downfall in the market.

On the contrary, the sale of nylon-cotton stretch fabric and cotton stretch fabric is still doing a good business even though the prices are over 10 yuan per meter. These fabrics are extensively used for manufacturing trousers and a variety of women clothes and therefore, in spite of low profits, the sales quantity is very high.
