After a meeting between Kurmanbek Bakiyev, President of Kyrgyzstan and Alexander Grigoryev, head of the Federal State Reserve Agency of Russia, it was announced on July 7 that Kyzgyzstan will supply 18,000 tons of cotton to Russia in the year 2008.
Grigoryev also expressed about the possibility of importing other kinds of agricultural produce and raw materials from Kyrgyzstan. Russia on its part may organize workshops for exchange of expertise with specialists in state material reserves of Kyrgyzstan.
Grigoryev was on his regular visit to Bishek, capital of Kyrgyzstan, for participating in the meeting of consultative State Reserves Council of the CIS member-countries.
Accroding to official statistics in the past two years, trade turnover, between the two countries has shown an outstanding increase and for the year 2007, it was for the first time that the figures exceeded US $1 billion.
