On an annual basis production for Manufacturing Industries for May 2008 was 9.3% higher than in May 2007. The main contributors to the annual increase were Basic chemicals (+41.6%) and Reproduction of recorded media (15.6%).
The seasonally adjusted volume of industrial production for Manufacturing Industries for the three month period March to May 2008 was 0.9% higher than in the preceding three month period.
The “Modern” Sector, comprising a number of high-technology and chemical sectors, showed an annual increase in production for May 2008 of 14.8% while a decrease of 2.8% was recorded in the “Traditional” Sector.
The seasonally adjusted industrial turnover index for Manufacturing Industries was 2.0% higher in the three month period March to May 2008 when compared with the preceding three month period. On an annual basis turnover was 5.9% higher when compared with May 2007.
