According to the latest Customs statistics, China exported 1,141 tons of raw silk in June 2008, 285 tons or 19.99 percent less than that in May, and representing a decline of 3.88 percent from the same time last year.
Export value of raw silk amounted to US $302.42 million, down 17.26 percent from the previous month, but up 8.32 percent from the same time last year. The average export price in June was $26,505 per ton, 3.41 percent more than that of the previous month, and a year-on-year increase of 12.68 percent.
China's total raw silk exports reached 7,234 tons in the first half of 2008, representing a growth of 13.14 percent over the same period last year.
Cumulative export value achieved nearly $1.771 billion, a growth of about 12.20 percent. Meanwhile, average export price was around $24,490 per ton, registering a slide of 0.83 percent as compared to corresponding period of 2007.
