Fabric production mounts up

Since fibre production of China is showing a fluctuating trend, it is affecting the production of fabrics of various materials, which demonstrated an oscillating trend in the month of June.

According to the latest figures from the National Bureau of Statistics, China's cotton cloth output reached 2.696 billion meters in June 2008, representing an increase of 233 million meters or 9.44 percent from May, and 103 million meters or 3.99 percent higher than the same period last year.

On the other hand, the country produced 48.7604 million meters of ramie cloth in the period from January to June. The figures showcased a year-on-year plunge of 6.92 percent, but growth rate increased 5.72 percentage points from the previous month.

Cumulative production of linen marked around 84.09 million meters, a year-on-year fall of 2.16 percent; growth rate lower 0.35 percentage points from the previous month.
