The textile enterprises of Wuxi city, in Jiangsu Province, mainly import wool from Australia, New Zealand, Argentina, Italy and Uruguay. However, it has been noted that imported wool were not meeting the Chinese quality standards.
In the first half of this year, Wuxi city imported nearly 25,975 tons of wool; of which 1,569 tons of wool worth US $12.53 million was disqualified.
Sources say that the procured wool was quite poorer in fineness and the material is not of uniform length. These are just a few issues with the products.
Thus, the local wool textile enterprises are facing many problems in managing production as well as quality control. These hassles are also resulting in some unnecessary economic losses.
Government reminded the wool companies to closely check the quality of imported wool. If a certain batch is found to be unqualified, they must immediately notify the concerned authorities to make timely claims for compensation.
