The Ministry of Industry and Trade recently released a report showing the cotton import statistics of Vietnam during the period from January to May.
In these five months the country imported around 124,925 tons of all types of cotton for local production, worth US $186.93 million.
It has been noted that India remained the biggest cotton supplier to Vietnam, totaling to $69.88 million, followed by the US for $54.81 million.
The other major suppliers of cotton were UK, Taiwan and Brazil among others.
Another data from MOIT depicts that the textile and apparel industry of the country not only imported cotton but also had to procure various types of yarns in these five months.
Around 177.08 tons of yarns worth $339.28 million were imported from Taiwanese, Korean, Indonesian, Malaysian, Thai, Chinese, Hong Kong and Indian markets.
