Color Concepts – theme of AATCC Design Competition
August 12, 2008 (USA)

The American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists (AATCC) has launched its fifth annual design competition developed by its Concept 2 Consumer Interest Group (C2C) and the former members of the Computer Integrated Textile Design Association (CITDA).

AATCC continues to expand the competition by inviting submissions from institutions with textile design programs and those with art, interior design, and fashion merchandising programs. The competition continues to promote innovative product development.

The theme of this year’s competition is Color Concepts, and the contest has been divided into two main categories: Apparel Fabric Design and Apparel Product Design.

Entries must be received on CD by November 25, 2008. Five finalists in each category will be asked to submit story boards and final products for judging.

First place winning entries in each category will be awarded US$1,000 and a complimentary copy of Pantone’s Color Passport.

Additionally, the first place winner of the Apparel Product Design category will be invited to attend the 2009 Society of Dyers and Colourists’ (SDC) International Conference and Design Competition finals in Goa, India, June 25-26, 2009, to compete for the “International Colour and Textile Award.”

Second place winning entries for each category will be awarded US$500. Winners will be announced to all participants and the international press on March 31, 2009.

The entry fee is waived for participants who are AATCC student members. Nonmembers pay a US$30 entry fee which includes a one-year student membership.
