Recently, China has introduced a new system whereby, all cotton suppliers shipping cotton to China from other countries must be registered in China.

China is the biggest cotton producing, importing as well as consuming country across the globe. This year cotton worth nearly US $4 billion is expected to be imported in to the country.

But due to unregulated imports, a lot of low quality cotton gets shipped in to China. Nearly 70 percent of all cotton imported was considered to be of below par quality.

To control the shipments of below par quality of cotton, the country has decided to register all those suppliers supplying cotton to the industries in China.

According to the new regulation, all the cotton entities must be legal enterprises in their home countries with a permanent address. They are also supposed to be fully aware of all the laws related to imports of cotton in to China.

And the last, but not the least, they should not have any previous record related to supplying below par quality cotton to textile industries in China.

This new rule also applies to cotton suppliers from Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macau.
