Dong Thap prioritizes key industries for long term plans

A total of 12 key industries will be given priority in the long term plan towards 2020 to be taken up by the Dong Thap Province.

Textile and garment, information technology and machinery manufacturing are among top industries to be considered while prioritizing.

Presently, the province produces about 3.2 million garment pieces annually and records on an average, an export turnover of US $11.498 million per year.


In the sphere of mechanical manufacturing, some 850 enterprises are presently in operation employing some 3,800 workers. The overall industrial production value is over $6.25 million a year.

Moreover, the province has three industrial parks namely, Sa Dec, Tran Quoc Toan and Song Hau with a total area of 548 ha and about 25 industrial clusters with 1,500 ha in total that are engaged in developing key industries in the region.
