Statistics show that clothing exports in general trade of Shantou city, Guangdong Province in the first half of this year increased 13.8 percent than the same period last year. This city is one the key lingerie production bases in China.
The export value of the clothes and accessories made in Shantou city during the period, stood at US $410 million, marking year-on-year rise of 10.2 percent.
Experts said that considering the international trade crunch and other internal factors like RMB appreciation, these positive results are a great achievement for Shantou.
They stressed that the city was capable of accomplishing much better results, especially since Government has raised the export rebate rate of some clothing products from 11 to 13 percent.
Analysts believe that this will relieve some pressure on the enterprises, helping them to realize higher growth in clothing trade during the latter months of 2008.
