It has been noted that most of the Asian developing countries like China, Hong Kong and even India have been facing major difficulties in exporting products to the US and EU.

The exports to these two key markets have decreased rapidly in the past year. Thailand is no exception.

Reportedly, the US has been top export market for Thailand's local industries, especially home-textile sector.

Statistics show that home-textile exports to the US accounted for an average of 38 percent of the total shipments of the industry in past few years, with average value being US $350 million.

Average growth rate of home-textile exports during the 1997- 2006 period was around 16.3 percent. However, it has notably declined since late 2007.

So, Thailand home textile exporters are actively seeking new export markets, such as, European countries, Australia, Japan, especially China.

China's swift development has enlarged the demand for top-grade home textile products and thus, it offers huge export opportunities for Thai exporters.
