The heritage village at the Bahrain national museum has increased its Ramadan activities right before bidding farewell to the holy month.
Giving high attention to handicrafts like pottery, textiles and others, Bahrain is one of the few countries that works on preserving traditional art and skills.
A variety of activities will continue until the end of Ramadan which has been drawing a large crowd of visitors over the previous days, mostly foreign tourists.
It has been reported that a total of 8,000 visitors came to the festival of which 2,000 were foreigners. A keen interest was shown by them in acquiring knowledge about the minutest details of the national heritage and culture. This was in harmony with the objectives of the culture and national heritage sector which wants to promote local heritage and pass it to the new generations.
The heritage village essentially aims at supporting the artisans by giving them ample chances to display their products in the village without paying fees.
