It has been noted that, although international price of raw-oil is continuously going down, rates of fuel oil, especially those used by dyeing and printing industry, is rising steadily.
Reportedly, fuel oil price was raised by NT $2382 as of September 10, 2008. Thus, now, the price is double than the same period of last year.
Insiders inform that eight leading textile associations of Taiwan have jointly appealed to the Government, explaining the dire situation of dyeing and printing industry.
They said that nearly 40 percent of dyeing and printing factories have already closed down and most others are hanging on by a thread.
Experts said that even those plants that depend on imported dyes are in trouble, because the tough trade situation in China Mainland has raised prices of dyes by almost 30 percent.
The associations stressed that Government needed to take aggressive steps to help the dyeing and processing industry that is in dire state.
