President Triet applauds progress of textile & garment industry

The entrepreneurs related to the textile and garment sector of the nation were appreciated and honoured for their efforts to make the products popular in overseas markets by the President of Vietnam, Mr Nguyen Minh Triet.

Nearly 51 businessmen were present at the event organized in Hanoi yesterday to give away awards to the best entrepreneurs.

At present, Vietnam ranks ninth in the entire world in exporting textile and garment products. This year the exports are anticipated to reach nearly US $9.5 billion.

More than 2 million people are associated with the textile and clothing industry, which has helped the nation progress substantially. The rapid industrialization and modernization has put Vietnam on the international map.

The president even urged the sector to explore new areas to further enhance the export earnings. He also suggested that training should be provided to update the people related to the textile and garment sector and also keep themselves informed on the latest technology and machinery for improving and increasing the production processes.

The annual selection of outstanding companies was jointly held by the Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association (Vitas). The awards were also supported by the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) and the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Amongst the ten outstanding enterprises, it icludes well known enterprises like Viet Tien, Tien Tien, Nha Be, Sai Gon 3, Scavi, Garment 10, Viet Thang and Phong Phu.
