Buyers for China were again dominant with some support from buyers for India.
Sales will be held in Sydney, Melbourne and Fremantle next week, when 57,856 bales are currently rostered for sale. Present estimates for the following two sales are 54,925 and 57,100 bales (plus 4,000 bales from New Zealand), respectively. An increase of 12.7% over the three sale period when compared with last year. Note, the increase is inflated by one more Fremantle sale this year.
The New Zealand Merino Company will also offer 4,100 bales in Melbourne next week.
In South African sales, where 6,236 bales were on offer, the Cape Wools Indicator was up by 1.5% since last week against a 3.2% depreciation of the Rand against the US Dollar and a 1.1% appreciation against the Euro.
AWTA testing and sampling data for the July – September period showed that 3.9% less wool was tested in the three month period than in the same three months last year.
