IDC courts local investors to fund completion of Sunway City EPZ

The Industrial Development Corporation of Zimbabwe Limited (IDC) has engaged local investors to help fund the completion of factory shells and a technology building and storage warehouse in the Sunway City (Private) Limited Export Processing Zone (EPZ) Industrial Park.

The Corporation is negotiating with a local financial institution to complete building works that had been stalled due to lack of funding when the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) discontinued the Parastatals Reorientation Programme (PARP) in April 2006.

In addition the IDC had also engaged a South African investor with a view of securing spinning equipment and installations once the textile factory shells are completed. The technology building is expected to accommodate Afrosoft Technology Company, a local company that specializes in software engineering and providing software solutions.

The Sunway City Intergratedl Park is being built on 1,600 square metres of land in the Eastern side of the capital, Harare and would incorporate an export processing Zone Park, High Technology Park, warehouses, an office park, terrace factories and an inland port when completed.

The park would also have an oil cluster depot, shopping center, Lorry Park, recreational facilities, hospitals, schools and other ancillary facilities.

Sunway City is a subsidiary of the Industrial Development Corporation of Zimbabwe Limited.
