The ultimate objective of these events is to reunite craftsmen/women, artists, schools, companies and scientists in order for them to exchange information and to create a source of inspiration for everyone. By this activity, World Shibori Network hopes to preserve traditional techniques and promote contemporary practice on a World wide basis.

Shibori is the Japanese term for all techniques of shaped resist dyeing, making use of tying, pleating, ligature and sewing (manipulation). These ancestral techniques are known under various names depending on the continent of practice. They form multiple techniques and know-how's. The most common denomination is “tie and dye”. These methods allows for sophisticated creation of patterns or volumes on all textiles: thread, weave, stitch and non-woven surfaces.
