The Ministry of Industry and Trade recently disclosed that export turnover of textile and garment products to ASEAN countries reached US $16.2 million in August, showing a rise of 9.71 percent over July and 16.72 percent on-year.
In total, the export value of the first 8 months was $111.8 million, up 19.55 percent over similar period 2007.
Export to countries like Indonesia, Cambodia, Myanmar and Thailand sharply increased. The export value to Philippines soared while that in Singapore reduced.
Indonesia and Cambodia emerged as the two largest importers of Vietnam's textile and garment products. Shipments to Indonesia fetched $22.8 million, up 43.1 percent over last year. The country earned $22.3 million from Cambodian market, representing 17.4 percent hike year-on-year.
