In the first 9 months of 2008, China's exports of textile and garment amounted to US $136.94 billion, a year-on-year increase of 8.12 percent, showing a single-digit growth consecutively for the last four months.
Of this, textile growth registered 21.34 percent, but growth rate of apparel exports was only 1.76 percent, realizing a single-digit growth in the last six months due to a decline in demand.
China, since the beginning of 2008 has been seeing a steep fall in its shipemnts of clothing. This country has been swamping the world with its mass manufactured garments for many years.
