Available reports show that in August 2008, the export turnover of Vietnamese textile and garment products to Taiwan reached US $29.7 million, up 118 percent year-on-year.
In total, during these eight months, Vietnam earned $160 million from exporting textile and garment products to this market, showcasing a growth of over 58 percent, against similar period last year.
Such impressive growth rate can be marked as an active sign in the export market development and gradual diversification from the dependency on traditional markets.
The products that were mainly responsible for fetching high export growth are elastic shirt up 99 percent; trousers - 35.5 percent; fabric – 13 percent; coat – 221 percent and jacket – 111 percent.
However, the export of underwear and cotton towel plunged by 18 and 47 percent respectively.
